Senior living has certainly changed over the past decade. An industry that once provided very little hands-on care has blossomed into a wonderful option for older adults. It now provides varying levels of assistance with residents’ activities of daily living, while arranging many opportunities for socialization and community. I am fortunate to work for Arrow Senior Living leading The Township Senior Living team. I would like to share a little about my journey to becoming a senior living leader.
I first learned of senior living while working for a laboratory provider. As the account manager, I would frequently visit, and trouble shoot lab related issues. While doing so, I learned the difference between a nursing home and a senior living community. The difference was drastic. After my employer stopped providing the service, I contacted Arrow Senior Living to notify them of the change. It was that phone call that brought me into senior living. It has been two years since I joined Arrow, and I haven’t looked back. I enjoy providing services to our older adult population and the Arrow Senior Living core values align with my values as a person.
The senior living industry is growing. This is a response to the increased number of retiring and aging baby boomers. All senior living providers will have to adjust as the market demands.
If someone is considering a career in senior living management, I would say to them, if you enjoy providing service to others, then you should consider senior living.
Arrow Senior Living and I invite you to reach out and learn more about a career in senior living. Working in this industry can be incredibly rewarding and fulfilling. Whether you’re interested in caregiving, management, or another aspect of senior living, there are a wide variety of roles available that allow you to make a positive impact on the lives of older adults and their families.
